James Ducker, who is considered one of the most reputable journalists in the British press, says Morata has made it clear to Mourinho how keen he is to complete the move and also corroborates reports from Spain which suggested Morata had left his honeymoon briefly to fly back to Madrid and help force through his transfer to United.
What more could Morata do bar hand in a transfer request directly to Real Madrid? Could it really reach the point where he has to do that in order to make the move happen? Well, Real Madrid are certainly not making it easy that’s for sure.
The fact these updates come from Ducker gives them more credence and as far as I am concerned, I hope saying this doesn’t come back to haunt me, but I think it is a case of when and not if Morata joins United. I’m confident because Morata himself wants the move, it’s not just United chasing a player – it’s a top class player who wants to leave in order to get regular first-team football and that happens to be under his former manager Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford.
Things are definitely moving quickly with Morata in that there are constant updates but in this stalemate of United refusing to pay Madrid’s asking price and Madrid refusing to negotiate, somebody has to crack first.
