Joe Riley has registered his excitement ahead of embarking on pre-season with Manchester United, showing off a flashy pair of new boots on social media.
The 20-year-old made his first team debut during a 3-0 win over Shrewsbury under Louis van Gaal and impressed on his first start against FC Midtjylland in February 2016.
He joined Sheffield United last season on loan but only managed two appearances before suffering a injury that kept him out for the rest of the season.
Riley, now fully fit, has returned to Man United and was clearly keen to show off his new Nikes before joining up with Mourinho’s men on July 9 for pre-season.
The Englishman was one of the many youngsters to receive a taste of senior football under Van Gaal and looked astonishingly composed against the Danish side at right back, linking up nicely with teammates and even bursting forward supplementing attacks on several occasions.
His display was understandably overshadowed by Marcus Rashford‘s earth shattering debut brace on the very same night, but it was an important blueprint nevertheless of what could be a promising few years.
Riley has previously entertained the idea of another loan move next season, but will get plenty of chances to forge his way into Mourinho’s plans with eight games scheduled for pre-season.
