Fiorentina have confirmed that Manchester United target Federico Bernardeschi has requested a transfer in the summer transfer window.
Following a meeting with Bernardeschi’s agent Beppe Bozzo, Director Pantaleo Corvino spoke with media and revealed Bernardeschi had rejected a proposal on the table as he wants to leave.
He’s attracted interest from Europe’s elite, and although everything currently points towards a Juventus transfer, Inter Milan, Bayern Munich and Chelsea are also in the race for his services.
Speaking about the decision, Corvino revealed the intentions of Bernardeschi.
“Bozzo told us that Bernardeschi has no intention of renewing his contract, despite a very important proposal on the table. He wants to leave,” said Corvino.
“Juventus? Federico is part of Italian football heritage and we have the privilege of his presence. We’ll see what to do…”
Bernardeschi would like to secure a move to his new side before the team assembles for their new pre-season tour.
A fee needs to be agreed with Fiorentina, however, as the club is currently under pressure to keep hold of their best players, a player-plus-cash offer could also be negotiated as they look to recruit some new talent and fill the gaps left in their team.
