Manchester United have had a new €45m bid for Ivan Perisic rejected by Inter Milan, reports the ever reliable Gianluca di Marzio.
In the latest twist in this ever changing transfer saga, Di Marzio once again reiterates that Inter Milan are absolutely refusing to budge on their €55m price tag on Perisic. They do not want to let him go for anything less than that and this latest offer being turned down is once again indicative of that being the truth.
Inter managed to raise €30m required for FFP sanctions without selling Perisic and I fully expected our move for the Croatian winger to end there but Jose Mourinho is continuing to push for the player he is almost desperate to sign. At this stage, it feels like desperation because United are trying so hard to get Perisic for less than the money Inter want but it really does look unlikely.
I’d like United to cut their losses and move on to another target in that position before this Perisic transfer story drags out even more and continues to waste United’s time. Perisic would be a great signing but I think there are alternatives, such as Douglas Costa, who could offer something equally as exciting from that position albeit with a different style.
United have to learn from their mistakes in previous years where we got stuck in long negotiations which ultimately ended with us empty handed because we simply cannot afford to let that happen this summer.
