Manchester United have announced Regan Poole has joined Northampton Town on a season-long loan.
Poole, 19, joined Man United from Newport County in 2015 and went on to make 22 starts for United’s U21s side in the 2016/17 season and he’s earned himself this loan spell as the next stage of development in his young career.
An official statement from Man United read as follows: “Manchester United’s Regan Poole has agreed a season-long loan switch to Northampton Town.
The Welsh youngster, who represented his country at the Toulon tournament this summer, will spend the 2017/18 campaign with the League One outfit.”
Poole trained with United’s first-team on occasions last season so clearly did enough to impress Jose Mourinho‘s staff that he was ready for that opportunity and playing regular first-team football with Northampton Town should help him develop a lot more.
A good loan spell can do wonders for any young player. Take a look at Andreas Pereira last season and how much his loan at Granada helped him develop, so here’s hoping Poole can have an excellent season with Northampton.
