Jose Mourinho has confirmed he will rotate Manchester United’s goalkeepers every 45 minutes in their first three pre-season tour fixtures in the United States.

The Portuguese boss named David de Gea, Sergio Romero and Joel Pereira in his tour squad which travelled to Los Angeles on Sunday and has now spoken about all three of them.

Romero started the Europa League final and Pereira has been backed by Mourinho as the best Portuguese goalkeeper of his generation as he signed a new four-year contract at the weekend, he also ensured De Gea will be playing at United by shutting down Real Madrid interest.

Speaking about his team, Mourinho has offered some early team news on his goalkeepers.

“The first match [against LA Galaxy], Romero does not play,” he said. “We play David for 45 and the kid for 45.
“In the second match [versus Real Salt Lake], David does not play. We play the kid for 45 and Romero for 45. The third match against Man City, we don’t play Joel. We will play David for 45 and Romero for 45.”

Pereira made his full debut against Crystal Palace in May and has established his place in the side as United’s third-choice goalkeeper, especially after Sam Johnstone was left out to join Aston Villa on loan.

Dean Henderson joined Shrewsbury on a season-long loan on Monday and it seems Pereira is set on the right direction path as he’s been massively backed by Mourinho.
