Jose Mourinho will not offer Zlatan Ibrahimovic a new deal at Manchester United and will instead look to complement the recent addition of Romelu Lukaku with another striker this summer, according to reports.
Lukaku will complete a £75m move to Old Trafford this week after the club announced on Saturday that an agreement between Everton and Man United had been reached.
M.E.N reported last month that Ibrahimovic, despite being released by the club, could be offered a short-term deal in January if he makes a successful recovery.
But according to the Daily Star‘s Jeremy Cross, Zlatan will not be offered a new deal as Mourinho focuses on signing another striker to join Lukaku at Old Trafford next year.
United managed less goals than AFC Bournemouth in the Premier League last year and their current strike force comprises of Lukaku, Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial. They are, you sense, still dangerously light in that department; what if the Belgian picks up an injury, for example?
The aforementioned trio offers plenty of energy and thrust, but there remains a degree of youthfulness that, on its own, cannot compete for the Premier League title next year. Mourinho still needs a cool head with a proven record of delivering under pressure at the highest level before he can relax and start preparing for next season in earnest.
