Manchester United are hoping to complete the signing of Ivan Perisic before Inter Milan fly to China for their pre-season tour next Tuesday, according to multiple sources.
ESPN, Guardian and Manchester Evening News all claim a deal could be completed at around €55m (£49m), in what seems to be a clear press briefing as Man United could be looking to create a smokescreen.
All major news sites dropped the same update at the same time and even if Man United were close to completing a deal, the last thing they’d do is give the press an updated situation.
United see him at around £40m and so the fee may be about £45m, even though Inter manager, Luciano Spalletti, wants him to stay this summer.
Perisic seems set on making the switch and Mourinho will be happy with his arrival as he operates in the wide positions, especially as Anthony Martial, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Jesse Lingard have been inconsistent over the course of last season.
Perisic is currently with Inter for their pre-season camp at Riscone di Brunico, however, if a move is completed in time, Mourinho will ask him to fly out to the United States and link up with the rest of the squad as their five-match tour begins with Saturday’s friendly against LA Galaxy at the StubHub Center.
