Tottenham Hotspur will not shift their stance as Manchester United hope to sign Eric Dier this summer, according to reports.
Jose Mourinho has told his club to make a second bid for the Englishman even though Daniel Levy had rejected an initial offer, claiming he Dier’s position at the club is not up for discussion.
A new bid would be worth around £60m and would see his wages more than doubled, something Spurs can’t match, with their current £100,000 ceiling and they wouldn’t look to up £70,000 weekly wage as other players would ask for a pay rise.
Mourinho wants to play him in his natural position as a defensive midfielder even though he’s played in Tottenham’s defence for most of last season.
Mauricio Pochettino rates him highly and the versatile 23-year-old is not for sale at any price, but with if reports are true and he is truly desperate to work with Mourinho, it’ll give United the advantage in negotiations.
Tottenham claim he is settled has not asked for a move away from the club, as he played over 64 matches for club and country last season.
He has been a near ever-present in the side since his arrival from Sporting in 2014, even if it has been in different positions as Spurs hope to keep hold of their key man.
