Jose Mourinho has provided an injury update on Manchester United’s squad as they complete their pre-season tour of America.
Luke Shaw isn’t even expected to play in our first game of the new season against West Ham, however, after impressing training staff at Carrington, was rewarded by the Portuguese boss with the chance to continue his training on the tour.
They’ve all been working incredibly hard to make themselves available and Mourinho even touched upon Zlatan Ibrahimovic‘s situation, claiming he could be back at Old Trafford.
“We have players that belong to the squad but cannot play for next three or four months,” Mourinho said.
“So we need two more players I would say, at least one, but I don’t want to say Matic or any other name because I don’t think it’s correct.”
Mourinho has plenty of options with his squad and will hope to continue rotating players and try to find his best tactics before the new Premier League season.
The fact all three players came out on the pre-season tour goes to show them they are in Mourinho’s plans for next season, otherwise he’d have let them recover at Carrington. He wants them to be gelled into the squad and I for one can’t wait to see how Shaw does in what is his defining season at the club.
