Jose Mourinho has shrugged off questions about whether Manchester United are close to signing Ivan Perisic by insisting he has no idea about any imminent transfer.
With Inter Milan flying out to China on Tuesday for their pre-season tour, reports that Man United wanted to complete a deal before that happened began to emerge at the start of this week and gathered pace on Monday night before kick-off against Real Salt Lake.
But instead of confirming that is the case, Mourinho decided to distance himself completely from the transfer rumours.
Jose asked if MUFC are close to signing Perisic. "I've no idea my friend. No idea."

Publicly, there is a real division of responsibility with Mourinho and Ed Woodward because Jose doesn’t want to get involved at all with our transfers, even when asked directly, and I don’t think that is a bad thing. It means Jose concentrates solely on the management of his squad and leaves the rest to Woodward, I suppose that puts him in a Director of Football type role.
Perisic’s future could well be resolved in the next 12 hours if United get what they want and finalise a deal for him but even if we’d already got the Croatian’s signature on the dotted line, I don’t think Mourinho would give anything away.
