Paul Pogba and Antione Griezmann have still been in contact despite a collapsed move to Manchester United this summer.
The Frenchman was heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford and when it seemed like a transfer had been completed, Griezmann opted to stay at Atletico Madrid as he claimed it would have been a dirty move to leave during their current transfer ban.
He signed a new contract at Atletico, however, his release clause remained exactly the same which means Jose Mourinho will not spend a penny more to sign Griezmann when he goes back for him next summer.
Here’s a look at the pair face timing.
It’s a shame because he would have been one hell of a player at Old Trafford, but it’s understandable that he doesn’t want to leave Diego Simeone in a difficult situation after all they’ve been through together.
Mourinho could go back in for Griezmann next summer, which seems like the most likely scenario, and with the current prices that we’ve seen this summer, it seems like paying his release clause won’t be a problem by the time it comes round.
