Daley Blind hoping to stay at Manchester United past 2019 contract

Daley Blind has confirmed he would like to stay at Manchester United past his contract which expires in summer 2019.

He has been a vital player at Old Trafford and although he hasn’t cemented his place in the first-team, has been a regular in the squad and has played well in the event of injuries.

The Dutchman started the campaign as Eric Bailly‘s partner in the centre of defence, however, he was dismissed as a centre-back by Mourinho in October and played at left-back or wing-back.

Speaking about his future, Blind is happy to stay at Old Trafford.

“I have one more year left [on his contract] after this one and I am very happy at United. I play a lot of games and I am looking forward to the new season,” he said.

“About my contract, I can’t really say anything. You have to ask the directors and the club, but of course, which player wouldn’t want to stay at United? I am very happy, that’s the only thing I can say.”

It was only when Rojo went off against Anderlecht last week that he was reintroduced alongside Bailly and he has plenty to offer as he’s great at passing and has always positioned himself well.

He may have proven himself to Mourinho, but he has to do more if he wants to lock down a place in the first-team position and give any of our defenders’ competition for their place in the team.
