Executive vice chairman Woodward has delayed his flight to America for Manchester United’s pre-season tour as he hopes to tie up deals for two remaining targets, according to reports.
Jose Mourinho is set to meet Woodward for the first time since he expressed concerns over Man United’s transfer business this season.
He was not in Houston for the first ever Manchester derby staged outside of the UK because he’s faced an increasing amount of difficulty over negotiations for Ivan Perisic, Nemanja Matic, and Eric Dier.
He is expected to meet up with Mourinho and the travelling party at their base in Beverly Hills as they are set to discuss summer transfers.
Mourinho has already confirmed that Romelu Lukaku and Victor Lindelof are only 50 percent of the business he wanted this summer as he was expecting four new signings.
The Portuguese boss claimed he could be forced to settle with three new signings and although he could land his new transfers, they won’t be part of the pre-season tour.
It’s a massive blow, especially as he wanted Perisic to join up with his squad before flying out with Inter to China on the Italians’ pre-season tour, but after both clubs failed to negotiate a fee, United failed to secure his services.
Woodward has been busy working his way through a list of targets handed to him in March and Mourinho has continued to put on the pressure, voicing his frustrations.
