Chelsea prepared to sell Nemanja Matic to Man United for £50m – report

Chelsea are prepared to sell Nemanja Matic to rivals Manchester United if they pay their £50m asking price, according to reports.

He wants to quit Stamford Bridge after growing concerned over a lack of first-team football, especially with the arrival of Tiemoue Bakayoko from Monaco this summer.

Inter Milan and Juventus looked like the more likely destination after Man United beat Chelsea to the acquisition of Romelu Lukaku from Everton, however, they are said to be prepared for business with their Premier League rivals.

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich won’t block Matic’s departure to Old Trafford as he believes it would be a sign of his gratitude for helping the club win the title in 2015 and 2017.

It’s not the first time he has acted this way, having allowed keeper Petr Cech to move to Arsenal in 2015.

He has been unhappy at Chelsea at it seems like a move could be on the cards, especially as Man United have missed out on summer targets, with Mourinho voicing his disappointment over the situation, claiming he may be forced to just accept one new signing this summer rather than the two he had hoped for.
