Man United on verge of closing deal for Bayern Munich’s Renato Sanches – report

Manchester United are closing in on a deal for Bayern Munich star Renato Sanches, according to reports.

Jose Mourinho wanted him last summer, confirming that he would have been in for him if he had arrived at Old Trafford sooner, but a move did not materialise as he joined the Bundesliga side instead.

He endured a tough debut campaign and Bayern chief executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has already revealed that he is open to selling the star just one summer after acquiring his services.

He said: “He is a player who needs to play regularly.

“So if we feel he is not going to get enough game time, then we will loan him out, or maybe even sell him.”

Reports claim Mourinho is still an admirer of Sanches and would love to have him at Old Trafford even if it is just on loan deal, although he would prefer to have the player at Old Trafford on a more regular basis.

United extensively scouted him in the past, and it looks like a move could be on the cards as Mourinho has struggled to land some of his transfer targets this window with Inter Milan and Real Madrid holding out for better deals.
