Jose Mourinho has opened up about his relationship with Ed Woodward at Manchester United, claiming he’s calm and likes his squad.
The Portuguese boss understands the current market and knows it’s difficult to get deals completed, especially when clubs like Inter Milan and Real Madrid have been playing hardball for Ivan Perisic and Alvaro Morata.
He has been expecting two more signings this summer, with Victor Lindelof and Romelu Lukaku already with the squad, however, with the current situation, has claimed he could be forced to only accept one more signing.
Speaking about the club’s position, Mourinho spoke out about what Woodward has to do.
“I don’t know, honestly, Ed is in control, he did Lindelof and Lukaku, he knows that I would like two more players but he also knows that I have balance, I depend on the situation, the market, and if my club is unable to do two players and just one, I accept that as a consequence of the market now,” he said.
“Our relationship is good and I just wait for good news, and good news is to have the players, maybe just the player as soon as possible because to work together with the team is really important.
“But I’m calm, I like my players, I like my squad, I trust them, so I’m calm and that’s important.”
He’s already confirmed he wants a midfielder and a winger this summer and has put the pressure on Ed by confirming that he’s hoping for two more signings.
There’s plenty of work left to do to get the deals over the line and if Ed doesn’t want to fail Mourinho ahead of the new season, he’ll need to get them wrapped up quickly.
