Romelu Lukaku has revealed how Jose Mourinho convinced him to join Manchester United in the summer transfer window.
He joined his team-mates in training on Monday night after the Portuguese boss made him the club’s new £75million signing from Everton.
The Belgian scored 25 Premier League goals for Everton last term and previously revealed how Paul Pogba would purposely drive past Old Trafford to show him what he was missing out on, however, Lukaku claimed it was the conversation with Mourinho that convinced him the most.
“The manager has a master plan and we are following his plan,” he said.
“It was the conversation I had with the manager that really convinced me the most, the plans and how he wanted to rebuild the club and he wanted me to be part of it.
He is a manager who has always had a lot of belief in me. I believe in his methods. It is going to be good to work together again.
Mourinho has proven to be very persuasive, signing some of the biggest names in football since his arrival at Old Trafford last summer.
Lukakku will be a brilliant player at Old Trafford as he possesses all the right attributes to become a top player, especially as he looks to replace Zlatan Ibrahimovic up front.
