Monaco vice-president Vadim Vasilyev has confirmed that Manchester United target Fabinho will not be sold this summer.

He has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford and after selling some of their top talents, are still hoping to try and keep youngster Kylian Mbappe from joining Real Madrid.

Fabinho and midfield partner Thomas Lemar have been linked with moves to the Premier League as Jose Mourinho was looking to bolster his options ahead of the new season.

Speaking about the situation, Vasilyev claims no more players will be sold.

“We have kept all of the key players that we intended to keep,” Vasilyev said.

“I will address speculation relating to the case of Lemar. He is staying with us. He is an immense talent and is essential for the team.

“Fabinho stays, he is an essential player in the midfield.”

He played at the base of midfield alongside new Chelsea signing Tiemoue Bakayoko during Monaco’s run to the Champions League semi-finals and even admitted that he’d love to play with the Portuguese boss.

It seems Mourinho could be forced to move for Chelsea midfielder Nemanja Matic who could find himself without so many first-team minutes following Bakayoko’s arrival at Stamford Bridge.
