Ivan Perisic has been pictured training with Inter Milan in the Far East as Manchester United continue to pursue his signature this summer.
Man United and Inter have been locked in negotiations over the Croat for some time, with the Serie A side insisting on an offer of £45m before considering letting him leave.
But the 28-year-old has continued to work hard with Inter as they prepare to take on Chelsea in Singapore on Saturday.
The Italians have offered United two potential avenues through which to secure Perisic and neither are desirable. Spending £45m on a 28-year-old would not be good business and could jeopardise later business for a club already under pressure over transfers.
And letting Martial leave, even for just a season, would be a grim mistake: the Frenchman needs game time and, more importantly, the backing of his manager to unlock his sensational potential – showcased in emphatic fashion against Real Madrid – next term. Sending him away to make room for somebody else would be a grim mistake.
Perhaps United, still in pursuit of a winger, will just need to bite the bullet over Perisic’s excessive fee.
