Talented Manchester United midfielder Devonte Redmond has joined Scunthorpe United on loan until January.
The 21-year-old has big ambitions and is hoping to use the experience of playing regular first-team football to propel his game to the next level.
Redmond has recently returned from the under-23s pre-season trip to Austria and is excited to get started with the League One club.
Speaking about his move, Redmond opened up about his move this summer.
“I’m happy to sign and can’t wait to get going. I’ve been at United for a long time and I think now is the right time to come out and try to make a name for myself in the game and help Scunthorpe towards their aspirations this season,” he said.
“It’s a good, ambitious club and a good league, so I want to test myself. I’m really looking forward to it.
“It’s a big step for me, because I’ve been there for a long time and for the last couple of years I’ve been playing for the reserves. I’ve been building my way up and in the last few years I’ve made quite a few appearances.
“This is the next best step for me and I think it’s really going to help me and hopefully Scunthorpe as well.
“I like to get on the ball and get up and down the pitch,” he added. “I like to dictate the play and hopefully I can chip in with a few goals and assists as well, as well as interceptions and winning the ball back.
“I can’t wait to get started. Pre-season is long, but the season is upon us now, so I can’t wait. We have been over in Austria for a week as well, so I’ve come back feeling fit and ready to go.”
Redmond is a massive talent and hopes are he works hard and keeps himself on the right path as a loan to Scunthorpe will help him stay grounded and pick up minutes.
He has bright future ahead and Scunthorpe manager Graham Alexande has also been delighted with his new signing.
