Ander Herrera heaps praise on Romelu Lukaku at Manchester United

by Leo Nieboer

Ander Herrera has spoken enthusiastically about Romelu Lukaku’s progress at Manchester United so far, insisting that the Belgian would score plenty of goals at Old Trafford.

The 24-year-old became Man United’s second signing of the transfer window earlier this month after moving from Everton for a fee of £75m, set to increase with add-ons.

He made a rip-roaring start to life in a red shirt by claiming well-taken goals against Real Salt Lake and Manchester City.

And Herrera, when asked about Jose Mourinho‘s latest addition, was quick to note that the striker was a handful to play against.

“He’s going to score a lot of goals for us, but I also want to speak about the work he does holding the ball for the team,” he said.

“He’s very strong and it’s very difficult to win the ball from him, so he’s going to be very important for us.”

There have been a stream of United players, such as Michael Carrick and Paul Pogba, that have remarked on the sheer brute strength of Lukaku.

Make no mistake, the Belgian’s physique eclipses anything we have seen in Premier League history. Perhaps in 100 years time every player will have Lukaku’s build, but as things are he is a truly unique – and impossible to push around – phenomenon who will bring a completely new sort of aggression to the masthead of United’s attack.
