Nemanja Matic made his Manchester United debut against Sampdoria in the last game of the pre-season tour and was sensational.

After completing a move to Old Trafford on Monday, he has had two days to train with the team before featuring in Dublin, but he looked like he had been with the squad for years.

He put in a very comfortable performance in the middle of the park, firstly alongside Paul Pogba and Andreas Pereira, and then with Marouane Fellaini and Ander Herrera in the second half.

Here’s a look at the Serbian in action on Wednesday night.

Matic was absolutely superb against Sampdoria, he always positioned himself well, controlled the game, intercepted the balls that came his way and made the lives of his defenders much easier.

It was against Sampdoria, but Matic has shown how Mourinho will operate this season, giving Paul Pogba the chance to become more creative in his role without having to worry about getting back so much.

Mourinho has signed Matic twice and it’s clear that he trusts him and following a brilliant showing, he’ll hope to continue against Real Madrid in the UEFA Super Cup Final on Tuesday in Skopje.
