Manchester United fans were full of praise for Anthony Martial following his scintillating cameo during their side’s 2-1 win over Sampdoria in Dublin.
The Frenchman, with rumours of a possible loan switch to Inter Milan as part of a deal for Ivan Perisic, came on with 30 minutes left and immediately injected some much-needed intensity to Man United’s attacking play.
He didn’t stop bursting forward from the left hand side and finally received his reward with a sumptuous assist for Juan Mata‘s 80th minute winner.
And supporters were quick to plead with the club to keep Martial close following what was a delightful performance against the Serie A side.
Martial does not need to go out on loan. All that talk just has to stop. #MatchdayMac

Since Martial has come on we've been getting the ball to him as much as possible. Reaping rewards too. Been very good.

People who want to offload Anthony Martial are not the type of people you need in your life.

There are some players with too much talent to ever be sent on loan – often a symbol of needing to head elsewhere to develop and usually always because they wouldn’t receive sufficient minutes at their parent club – and Martial is unequivocally one of them.
At the Aviva stadium, with proceedings quietening down, the 21-year-old came on and change the game’s complexion, pinning Sampdoria back with a litany of piercing runs before finally breaking them down.
We should never forget that Martial, whilst mercurial, is one of the finest young talents in world football and Inter’s attempt to use him as a pawn in a bigger deal constitutes a disdainful lack of respect.
