Leander Dendoncker’s agent confirms he’s available and needs a challenge

Leander Dendoncker’s agent, Christophe Henrotay, has confirmed his client needs a new challenge as an agreement with Anderlecht seems difficult.

Anderlecht football director, Herman Van Holsbeeck has already agreed to sell Youri Tielemans to Monaco this summer for around €25m and previously made it clear he was not planning on weakening his midfield by letting the 22-year-old leave.

Even if the defensive midfielder himself want the move, Anderlecht can’t be forced into selling him as Jose Mourinho has already signed Nemanja Matic in that position since then.

Speaking about a deal, Dendoncker’s agent confirmed the situation.

“Anderlecht want to keep him, but the kid wants a new challenge. We’ll see if we can find an agreement with the club, but that seems difficult,” he said.

He impressed over the two legs in the Europa League quarter finals against Man United last season and it’s no surprise why the Portuguese boss was interested in him.

With Matic getting closer to his 30s, Mourinho could be looking to get a player in place at Old Trafford for the post-Matic era, but it’s highly unlikely a deal will be reached, even with his agent’s recent comments.
