Manchester United target Ivan Perisic in talks with Inter Milan over new contract – report

by Leo Nieboer

Inter Milan are nearing an agreement with Manchester United target Ivan Perisic over a new contract worth €6m, according to reports.

The two clubs have been locked in negotiations over the Croatian since June, with the Serie A side demanding either £45m or a package involving Anthony Martial coming the other way on loan.

Man United have continuously refused to table an amount they deem exorbitant and Jose Mourinho recently ruled out the prospect of sending Martial anywhere over the next few weeks.

And according to Premium Sport (via Football Italia), Inter are close to agreeing a lucrative new deal with the 29-year-old to finally put any chances of a move away to bed.

This entire Perisic saga, which feels at least eight years old, has been a story of constant oscillation, with the winger either close to agreeing a move or Inter attempting to keep at the San Siro by any means necessary.

The most curious aspect of the whole story is that Perisic, throughout the summer, has been totally quiet about his future – which only adds more ambiguity to the whole tale.

Jose Mourinho has called on Ed Woodward to deliver another signing but you sense that this particular target, ever so slowly, is edging out of United’s grasp.
