Paul Scholes urges Jose Mourinho to start Marouane Fellaini and Marcus Rashford against West Ham United

Paul Scholes has urged Jose Mourinho to hand both Marouane Fellaini and Marcus Rashford places in the starting XI for the clash with West Ham United this weekend.

The pair were both left on the bench for Manchester United’s UEFA Super Cup clash with Real Madrid on Tuesday night and Marcus Rashford was introduced at half time, with Fellaini coming on moments after the Champions League winners netted their second.

And they had an immediate impact as Rashford, deployed on the left hand side, harassed Dani Carvajal whilst the Belgian’s unique physicality brought Man United further up the pitch.

Speaking on BT Sport after the game, Scholes encouraged Mourinho to include the pair from the very start against Slaven Bilic’s men on Sunday.

Including Fellaini against West Ham would mean dislodging the midfield triumvirate of Ander Herrera, Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic – something Mourinho will not want to do as he looks to give the trio as much time together on the pitch as possible following the Serbian’s arrival just last week.

Rashford, on the other hand, should be one of the first names on the team sheet. Jesse Lingard‘s inclusion in Skopje was based on trying to contain Madrid with extra discipline and legs out wide, but Mourinho will want to see the 19-year-old harassing West Ham’s right hand side from minute one at Old Trafford.
