Zlatan Ibrahimovic continues to work hard ahead of Manchester United return

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has sent another message to Jose Mourinho ahead of his return to action later this year, posting a series of videos of him working hard in the gym.

The striker’s future has been uncertain ever since being released by the club in June after suffering a long-term knee injury in April.

Gianluca Di Marzio and the Guardian have both confirmed this week that the 35-year-old, after rejecting advances from the MLS, has decided to remain at Manchester United this year.

And the big Swede has taken to social media to show Mourinho – and the footballing world – that he is ruthlessly preparing himself for a big return, captioning the video with a clear message: “no time to rest”.

Anyone else would receive an immediate unfollowing if they posted this many workout videos and pictures, but the reasons for it are different when it comes to Zlatan.

This is not just to show the world that, hey, in case you didn’t know, I work out, I’m in great shape. No, the Swede is showing you the start – not the necessary build-up – of a bombastic return to the top. This is all part of his process. These videos will all feed perfectly into a crescendo in January when, finally, the menace consigned to the gym unleashes himself on the pitch.
