Rio Ferdinand has been full of praise for Romelu Lukaku after his impressive performance in Manchester United’s 4-0 victory over West Ham in the opening game of the Premier League season.
He scored twice in the victory with a clinical close-range finish in the first half and then doubled the lead as he scored a brilliant header from a set-piece.
The Belgian made the move from Everton last month in a deal worth around £75m and after scoring his first competitive goal in a 2-1 loss to Real Madrid in the Uefa Super Cup last week, he’s continued to do what he does best, score goals.
Speaking about his impact, Ferdinand claims he’s the best signing of the summer.
Ferdinand wrote on Twitter: “The beast has landed !!! #MUFC @ManUtd”
He added: “And another…… @RomeluLukaku9 ????⚽️ that’s why he was my no1 on Best Signings this summer!!!”
He was absolutely fantastic to watch and has silenced critics who believed he doesn’t have what it takes to lead the line for a top club.
Lukaku is Premier League proven and understands what it takes to score against sides like West Ham, which is why he’s been able to kick off his United career with such a bang.
