Manchester United are willing to match Sergi Roberto’s release clause if he tries to push a Barcelona exit, according to reports.
He is reportedly settled at the Nou Camp and has been left unhappy with the arrival of former Tottenham midfielder Paulinho.
The 25-year-old has been worried his opportunities in the first-team will be limited this season which has resulted in increased speculation over a potential exit.
Don Balon claim he has a £36.5million release clause in his contract, which isn’t very much in the current football market, as we’ve seen from some moves this summer already.
United would have no issue in meeting the Spanish club’s demands if he’s able to put a move in motion to leave this summer.
Roberto is allegedly focused on his career at Barca so far is trying hard for a place in the team, but his mind could be changed before the end of the transfer window this month.
He is under contract until June 2019 and has proven his versatility last season, even though he played at right-back for much of last campaign.
United will face competition for his services if he does become available and if Philippe Coutinho does end up leaving Liverpool for a Barca move, it could push him towards the exit as he looks to identify his place in the side.
