Real Madrid end interest in signing David de Gea this summer – report

Real Madrid have been forced into ending their interest in signing David de Gea this summer as he wants to stay at Manchester United, according to reports.

The Spaniard came close to making the move in 2015 but a deadline day mistake meant that the transfer collapsed in the closing minutes of the transfer window.

They have been interested in his services since then but it seems his mind has been swayed by Jose Mourinho as he’s focused on playing in the Champions League with United.

He’s clearly been impressed with the Portuguese boss and what he’s been building at Old Trafford, signing a new contract after his move fell through.

De Gea is worth a lot of money but trying to sign a replacement in the current market would cost around the same fee, which isn’t worth it to say his replacement won’t be as good in between the sticks.

Sergio Romero has a big future ahead at United, but he’s not on De Gea’s level as the Spaniard is recognised as the world’s best goalkeeper as a result of his impressive performances at United and will help United challenge on all fronts as the side take on the Premier League and Champions League.
