The duo have been out of action at Old Trafford and the Portuguese boss claimed they wouldn’t be available until at least next month, however, he has now confirmed that he overestimated their returns to ensure they’ll be back.
Mourinho confirmed they both trained with the squad last week and that they’ve both come on leaps and bounds in the rehabilitation as they hope to fight for their place back in the team.
Speaking about the duo, Mourinho claims the game will be like a pre-season clash for them to test their fitness.
“It is like a pre-season match for them. But it is good news because, when they can play with the Under-23s, it is because the last week they trained with us all week so they are both coming [back].”
Shaw has not played since last season’s Premier League match against this weekend’s opponents Swansea City on 30 April, while Young has been absent since the UEFA Europa League semi-final tie at Celta Vigo on 4 May.
Both players travelled to America in the summer for Tour 2017 and worked separately to continue their rehabilitation and stepped up their recovery after returning to full training in the last week.
