Jose Mourinho reacts to Swansea City 0-4 Manchester United

Jose Mourinho was full of praise for his players following Manchester United’s 4-0 win over Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium.

The visitors initially struggled to bypass a packed Swansea midfield during the opening stages, with Marcus Rashford going the closest, until Eric Bailly poked home his first goal for the club after Paul Pogba‘s header bounced off the bar just before half time.

United controlled the second half and eviscerated the hosts with a rampant three minutes of scintillating attacking prowess that saw Romelu Lukaku, Paul Pogba and Anthony Martial hand Mourinho another 4-0 win.

And the Portuguese, speaking after the game, expressed his delight with the way in which United strolled to victory in Wales.

The 2017/18 campaign remains in its nascent stages, but there was an unmistakeable air of ‘second season’ arrogance oozing out of Mourinho as he sat in the dugout and watched as his “happy” side ripped through Swansea.

He has a group of players all pulling in the same direction and, with Nemanja Matic creating an entirely new dimension of shape in midfield, an attacking arsenal able to pour forward and inflict damage. Confidence is high and that stems from the man at the top. Mourinho has been here before, after all, and United fans have real cause for optimism.
