Manchester United target Ivan Perisic is closing in on a new deal at Inter Milan, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Jose Mourinho has been interested in signing Perisic this summer and Ed Woodward attempted to sign him on a cheap as Inter had to comply with Financial Fair Play regulations, however, after raising the funds through smaller deals they have been set on keeping hold of their star asset.
He seems set to stay in Serie A as he is close to agreeing to a new contract at £5million-a-year tying him down at the San Siro and putting an end to a possible move to Old Trafford.
The Portuguese boss has been intent on trying to sign him and it seems like they could miss out as they’ve been unwilling to pay Inter’s valuation of around £50m.
Inter claim the only reason they’d be willing to negotiate the fee would be if Anthony Martial is included in the deal and as United will not sanction a move, the transfer for Perisic has continued to stall, until now.
Perisic would have been a great player for Mourinho to have at Old Trafford but he’s already confirmed he’s happy with his squad and would be fine to moving forward with just the three new players he’s acquired this summer.
