Paul Pogba has spoken out about Nemanja Matic‘s impact at Manchester United, claiming he’ll be allowed to roam forward easier with the Serbian set up behind him.

Jose Mourinho completed a £40m deal for Matic from Chelsea this summer and he’s proving to be a bargain as he’s been sensational at Old Trafford, helping the squad to back-to-back 4-0 victories over West Ham United and Swansea City.

He’s an incredible player and it’s clear his presence in the center of the park will allow Pogba to become more creative in his role as he won’t need to worry about defending so much.

Speaking about his role, Pogba claims Matic will help get the best out of him.

“I am mostly an offensive player and I think more about attacking,” he said.

“But he [Matic] will be more defending. We can switch, but we match a lot and in those two games, I have been more forward and he has stayed back.

“That helps me more be myself. I still do the defensive part, but now I can go forward more and help the strikers. I like to be in front of the goals too. He helps me and I enjoy it, yes.”

We’ve seen it from Pogba already in the opening two games of the season that he’s able to focus on getting the ball forward more and with Matic behind him, he’s also been finding goals and assists.

The signing of Matic was something the club desperately needed and it’s not until he leaves will some fans realise his incredible ability in midfield.
