Jose Mourinho provides Manchester United injury update ahead of Leicester City

Jose Mourinho has provided an important injury update on Luke Shaw, Marcos Rojo and Ashley Young at Manchester United.

He claimed Young is closer to full fitness than Shaw after they both returned to action with Man United’s Under-23s on Monday.

They played for 59 minutes in the 1-1 draw against Swansea City’s youth side at Leigh Sports Village and are hoping to play for the first-team as they continue their rehabilitation.

It’ll be a big boost for the Portuguese boss with plenty of fixtures to come in September and he has given an update on their returns.

“Young will come back earlier than Luke,” Mourinho said. “We need our squad, we need everybody, but there is no rush with Rojo. There is no limping. Just straight runs and repetitions. We have to respect the timings and they are bringing him to the team around December.”

Shaw and Young were pictured training with the first-team on Tuesday morning alongside Rojo as he begins to make his return, since being ruled out with a knee problem since March.

It’s encouraging news and Mourinho will be looking forward to having a full squad to chose from as the side hope to challenge on different fronts.
