Paul Pogba has won Europa League’s Best Player award following his participation in the competition with Manchester United last season.
He featured in all 15 games, scoring three goals and played a vital role as Jose Mourinho‘s men won the Europe’s secondary competition, securing a place in the Champions League for this campaign.
United finished second in their group behind Fenerbahce and then went on to beat St-Etienne, Rostov, Anderlecht and Celta Vigo, before beating Ajax 2-0 in the final.
Speaking about the award, Pogba said: “Thank you.
“I’m really honoured to be the first to win the best player for the UEFA Europa League. Hopefully this season will be as good as last season — let’s see!”
Pogba was selected by a panel composed of the coaches of the 48 clubs involved in last season’s competition with 55 journalists selected by the European Sports Media group.
The members select three players, with their first choice receiving five points, their second choice three and their third choice one.
He’s been vital for United last season and hopes are he can continue his good form as the side take on Champions League football.
