Zlatan Ibrahimovic insists this will be the season of Henrikh Mkhitaryan at Manchester United.
The Armenian has started the new campaign in spectacular form, registering four assists from the opening two games of the Premier League season in successive 4-0 victories over West Ham United and Swansea City.
He had initially struggled to cement his place in the side following his move from Borussia Dortmund last season, however, he has now played both games as he looks to lock down a place in the first-team.
Speaking about his team-mate, Zlatan believes Mkhitaryan will be able to prove wrong the people who have underestimated him.
“I also think this season will be the season of [Henrikh] Mkhitaryan because he has opened fantastic,” he said.
“I think people underestimate him because he doesn’t have the name like the other ones in the world. This may be because he comes from a small country like he comes from [Armenia] but this year he will get the credit he deserves and show the quality that he is, my bet is on Mkhitaryan. Or if he don’t provide me [goals] he will not play… I am joking!”
Mkhitaryan has started the season well and with Jose Mourinho hoping to take the side back to winning ways, there’s no doubting the fact that he’ll have a massive role to play.
He has to start scoring goals and boost his confidence if he wants to reach the levels he managed at Dortmund, but either way it’s great to see him getting back to his best.
