The Englishman was only used sporadically last season, making just 12 Premier League appearances, but Mourinho was quick to express his admiration for the way Young applied himself whenever he got the chance.
But according to M.E.N‘s Samuel Luckhurst, Young will remain at Old Trafford this season after interested parties were put off with his valuation.
The 32-year-old didn’t feature much at all last season but his presence was crucial. He is, first of all, a popular member in the dressing room, blessed with a winning mentality imbibed during his time under Sir Alex Ferguson, and Mourinho has used that nous to great effect last year.
That performance at Anfield, alongside the 2-0 win over Chelsea which saw him take the armband, were examples of the specialist influence he can bring to the table when Mourinho needs something different, and supporters will hope he can be used in the same way during what will most likely be his last season at Old Trafford with his contract expiring in the summer.
