Croatia boss Ante Cacic has confirmed Ivan Perisic is happy at Inter Milan as they prepare a new contract for him.
He had been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford this summer as Jose Mourinho initially tried to sign him on a cheap with Inter looking to comply with Financial Fair Play regulations, however, after making the funds through smaller deals, they have been set on keeping hold of their star asset.
They wanted either Anthony Martial on loan plus cash or a fee of around £48m, both of which United were unwilling to meet and is the reason why a move stalled over the summer as he’s made a good start to the new season, being directly involved in four goals for Luciano Spalletti’s side.
Speaking ahead of Croatia’s crucial World Cup qualifiers against Kosovo and Turkey, Cacic has revealed Perisic’s change of heart.
“I spoke to Ivan Perisic, he is happy in Inter,” he said.
“The coach [Luciano Spalletti] appreciates him, they are preparing a new contract for him.”
Mourinho has even confirmed he still wants another signing before the end of the summer transfer window but understands the current market and will be fine to move forward without.
