Manchester United could complete a shock move for Leicester City winger Riyad Mahrez just before the end of the summer transfer window, according to reports.
He has submitted a transfer request in an effort to force a move away from the King Power Stadium but his valuation has stalled a any deal and left him stuck at the club.
Arsenal and Roma have been priced out of a move for his services as Leicester hope to claim around £50m and are said to be under no pressure to sell him this summer.
Manager Craig Shakespeare confirmed last week that no further interest had been lodged and Mahrez looks destined to remain until at least January, if not next summer.
SFR Sport have suggested that Jose Mourinho is interested in getting a deal over the line and finally securing a wide man.
The Portuguese boss has been heavily linked with a move for Ivan Perisic and Gareth Bale but both have failed to move forward and seem unlikely before the end of the window.
Mourinho has to convince the United hierarchy that Mahrez is worth the investment as he’s endured a poor campaign after winning the PFA Players’ Player of the Year award, guiding Leicester to the title in just his second season in the Premier League.
