Nemanja Matić impresses Manchester United fans against Everton

Manchester United fans were delighted with the performance of summer signing Nemanja Matić in the Reds’ surprise 4-0 victory against Everton.

The Serbian was comfortable in possession and a force in midfield throughout while much of Man United’s side were relatively anonymous until a flurry of late goals in the final few minutes.

His contribution since arriving at Old Trafford for £35million in August has been fantastic, and even greater than many fans thought when he signed for United.

With Paul Pogba out for an expected six weeks, and potentially even 12 weeks according to a report in The Times on Sunday morning, Matić’s importance to side will only continue to increase.

He can’t replace the dribbling ability and creativity of Paul Pogba, but he’s a commanding presence and his vision has impressed United fans.

Who Matić’s midfield partner will be in the period of Pogba’s absence is still to be decided. Marouane Fellaini was elected to start alongside the Serb on Sunday afternoon against Everton, with Ander Herrera coming on as a substitute in the second half.

Michael Carrick is yet to play a single minute for United this season, despite being named club captain and signing a new contract in summer.
