Summer signing Nemanja Matić has continued his brilliant start to his Manchester United career with a commanding performance in Sunday afternoon’s 4-0 victory against Everton.
The Serbian was both defensively and offensively excellent in the absence of Man United’s star player Paul Pogba.
Required to attack more than in his previous games for United due to Pogba’s hamstring injury, Matić excelled, though his assist for Antonio Valencia was due to the quality of the Ecuadorian’s strike rather than the pass from Matić.

Matić’s importance to United will only continue to grow with Pogba potentially out for 12 weeks.
The 29-year-old has impressed and surprised United fans with his creativity. Reds expected Matić’s defensive qualities when he signed in August but his vision and passing ability has been a pleasant surprise.
His relationship with Pogba was exciting, though now he will likely be playing alongside Marouane Fellaini who started against Everton.
José Mourinho will turn to a number of those options in the coming weeks as the fixtures continue to come thick and fast. United face Burton Albion in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday evening at Old Trafford.
Matić may be given a rest, but for now his performances are a breath of fresh air given United’s struggles in midfield in the past decade.
