Manchester United will join Liverpool and Chelsea in the race to sign Schalke midfielder Leon Goretzka next summer, according to reports.
Goretzka has caught the eye of several European suitors following four seasons as an established member of Schalke’s starting XI ever since making his debut aged 18.
And according to German media outlet Bild, Man United will rival Chelsea and Liverpool in the pursuit of Goretzka’s signature next summer.
A litany of names have emerged as potential midfield options for next summer. Club representatives were present at Roma’s draw with Atletico Madrid in the Champions League to monitor Radja Nainggolan and Saul Niguez, while Anderlecht have made it clear that Leander Dendoncker is available at a price.
And Goretzka serves as another fine option. The 22-year-old never struggled on a physical level when he broke into the first team as a teenager and has since dazzled with his shrewd, fluid approach on the ball and superb passing range, along with a capacity to launch powerful drives from distance.
You sense that, whether he joins United or not, the world will soon know about him.
