Adnan Januzaj has admitted that José Mourinho was fair in selling him at Manchester United in 2016.
The Belgian youngster burst onto the scene at Man United and appeared to be one of Europe’s most exciting prospects.
Yet things failed to materialsie after that initial first season under David Moyes. Mourinho sold Januzaj to Real Sociedad this summer having loaned him out to Moyes’ Sunderland in his first season as United manager.
“José had to make things happen very quickly and make quick decisions,” Januzaj told the Daily Mail.
“I had not been playing for two years.
“He is a great manager and he has been fair to me because he let me leave to improve somewhere else.
“That’s how the world goes and I look forward.”
United fans hoped that Januzaj would excel on loan at Sunderland last season under the manage who brought him through. However, in a struggling team, he failed to stand-out.
It was clearly times for pastures new. Mourinho was correct to sell Januzaj, and the Belgian was correct to look for a new club.
The 22-year-old has played three times for new club Real Sociedad in La Liga, though is yet to complete a full 90 minutes for La Real.
United fans will be watching on closely to see if the player who excited so many on his debut and throughout his first season can fulfil his obvious potential.
