Rio Ferdinand was full of praise for what was a lethal display from Anthony Martial during Manchester United’s 4-1 win over CSKA Moscow in the Champions League.
The Frenchman, handed a rest over the weekend, partnered Romelu Lukaku up front and provided the Belgian with a sumptuous assist after just four minutes before netting his fifth goal of the season from the spot 14 minutes later.
But he wasn’t done there: he claimed another assist for Lukaku before half time and saw a parried shot fall to Henrikh Mkhitaryan for Man United’s fourth.
And Ferdinand has taken to social media to express his delight with yet another ruthless display from the youngster.

Never before has Martial looked so confident and clinical in a United shirt. He looks in control of everything he does and, crucially, desperately wants to take on opponents at every chance. You can almost visibly see the jolt of fear shooting up the spines of defenders when he picks up the ball and turns.
The Frenchman was one of the many attacking players from last season guilty of being wasteful in front of goal. He rarely looked like scoring, even when the opportunity was straightforward.
Needless to say, nobody has undergone such a more pronounced metamorphosis in their persona and potency going forward over the summer than Martial. He looks genuinely unstoppable.
