Jose Mourinho has been left delighted by Manchester United’s start to their UEFA Champions League group.
The Reds maintained their 100% record in the competition this season with a 4-1 victory away in Russia to CSKA Moscow, a usually tricky fixture.
Romelu Lukaku opened the scoring for Man United, before another from him, as well as strikes from Anthony Martial and Henrikh Mkhitaryan, gave Mourinho’s men an excellent result
“We started so strong, we surprised them with our attitude,” Mourinho said.
“They didn’t look as good as they are, because of us.
“We are in a good position with four matches to play.
“We are almost there. There was not so much PlayStation football tonight, just a little bit of relaxation. That is normal.”
Mourinho had lamented the ‘PlayStation football’ that United succumbed to against FC Basel in the opening Champions League game.
His side had taken a three-goal lead against their Swiss opposition, but looked a far worse team in the second half, leading to a frustrated Mourinho.
United grabbed their fourth of the game on Wednesday night through Mkhitaryan in the 57th-minute, and although they conceded in the last minute, Mourinho was rightly pleased with the performance.
Any away game in Moscow proves difficult for English sides and United handled it superbly, scoring early on and never looking in any trouble.
