Jose Mourinho has hailed summer signing Romelu Lukaku for his electric start to life at Manchester United.
The Belgian scored twice against CSKA Moscow on Wednesday night to continue his stunning form.
Signed for an initial £75million from Everton, big things were expected of Lukaku, and he’s produced so far for Man United.
The Reds ended up 4-1 victors over CSKA in their second UEFA Champions League group game, and Mourinho was delighted with his striker after the game.
“He’s having a great record, we know he’s a good player and that he can score goals,” Mourinho told BT Sport.
“He’s playing with quality players and I have to admit he’s scoring important goals almost every game. The important thing is that he’s helping us more forward, pick up points and progress in the Champions League.”
Lukaku now has 10 goals in a Red shirt in nine games for the club. It’s one of the finest starts to life at Old Trafford for a new striker in some years.
Lukaku is currently one of the leading contenders in the Premier League Golden Boot race, and with three goals in the Champions League already, if United can go a fair distance in the competition, he’ll be a contender for top goalscorer in that, too.
