Manchester United have sent scouts to monitor the progress of Aston Villa striker Keinan Davis ahead of a potential bid, according to reports.
The 19-year-old joined Villa back in 2015 and made his debut last season during an FA Cup defeat to Tottenham Hotspur, making six league appearances in total.
And he has further established himself over the last few weeks, netting his second goal on his seventh start of the campaign during a 4-0 win over Burton Albion.
According to the Daily Mirror‘s James Nursey, scouts were present at the game to monitor the striker’s progress under Steve Bruce.
The fact that Davis is being selected ahead of Steve Hogan, a Republic of Ireland international worth £12m, serves as a strong testament to just how explosive he has been since the start of the season.
You could describe him as a rough diamond: a striker with all the raw makings of a dangerous goalscorer – instinct, power, speed, shrewdness on the ball – but without the gloss needed to compete at the very highest level just yet.
That said, if Davies continues to assert himself on Villa’s starting XI and find the net regularly, offers from the Premier League will naturally follow.
