Captain Marvel believes the young attacking pair have improved greatly on last season’s performances, and will be responsible for Man United competing for the title.
Martial has three goals and two assists in five Premier League games, while Rashford two goals and three assists, also in five appearances.
Speaking to Press Association Sport, Robson said, “the one thing I felt at the start of the season was that if Rashford and Martial could start the season with a bit of confidence and improve from last year but score more goals, United have a real chance of winning the title and they can be there and thereabouts.”
“That’s exactly what has happened. Marcus and Martial have been scoring goals, they are looking confident. They are looking that little bit better, as is their understanding of the game from last season.
“With them two doing so well at the start of the season that holds us in good stead.”
United have had one of the finest starts to a league season in their history, netting 19 goals in 7 games, with six wins and a draw. The Reds are joint leaders at this stage, alongside local rivals Manchester City.
Saturday afternoon’s 4-0 victory against Crystal Palace was the fourth time José Mourinho’s side have won by that scoreline in the league.
Much of that has been down to Martial and Rashford, not just their direct contributions, but their ability to tire defences and, with that, create space for others like Romelu Lukaku and Henrikh Mkhitaryan to really expose.
